Research question
Can a magnetic field suppress vortex-induced vibration of an elastically mounted cylinder, and how does that suppression affect convective heat transfer?
Numerical method
Flow and energy equations→Two-way FSI coupling→MHD Lorentz force→Validation and response analysis
Selected findings
- Magnetic-field orientation had a decisive effect on vibration suppression.
- Structural-motion suppression significantly altered vortex structure and force response.
- Reduced vibration was accompanied by changes in convective heat transfer and must be evaluated jointly.
